Legal professionals have a responsibility not only to uphold the law and be zealous advocates or neutrals, but to proactively work within our communities to advance the Rule of Law. The Glendale Bar Association’s signature Law Day outreach program is based on these principles.
This May, after a five year hiatus, Law Day came back to the GBA without a hitch! Veteran Law Day coordinator Arpa Stepanian together with new volunteer coordinator Lisa MacCarley and GBA President Sarkis Jacob Babachanian organized attorney and judge volunteers to cover 45 class periods at four Glendale area public high schools, promoting legal careers to students and leading energetic critical discussions about legal principles. This year’s participating schools were Glendale High School, Anderson W. Clark Magnet High School, Hoover High School and La Cañada High School. Many teachers and a few students personally reached out to express their gratitude for the presentations. Here are some of the comments:
- “Incredibly informative and interactive.”
- “I never knew that attorneys did so much to help people.”
- “Didn’t realize there were so many different things a lawyer could do.”
A La Cañada High School student informed the GBA that due to our informative and engaging presentations, the school is now looking to make Law Day a consistent and meaningful tradition on their campus. At Glendale High School, a teacher requested that a Law Day volunteer return to continue with the discussion.
The mandate for the GBA’s Law Day is for our attorney and judicial officer member and friends to share the joys and challenges our careers encompass. In 2025, every attorney that helped made that happen! KUDOS TO ALL THAT VOLUNTEERED!
In celebration of a Law Day season that was successful because of our dedicated colleagues, the GBA invites all 2025 Law Day volunteers to join us for wine and cheese at 6:00 p.m on July 16, 2025, at In Vino & Spirits located at 4532 Rinetti Lane in La Cañada. We look forward to seeing you there!
